Benefits of Meditation – 4 Ways to Improve Your Well-Being

benefits of meditation

People have been aware of the benefits of meditation since before writing was invented. Ancient philosophers were conscious of how meditation can work to improve our lives.

So why aren’t we, in the modern age, meditating more? After all, we supposedly live in a more advanced civilization than our ancestors. But that is a discussion for another time. Let’s look at the top four benefits of meditation, instead!

1. Stress Reduction

One of the prime benefits of meditation is that you essentially become more relaxed. We live in a world plagued by political turmoil, wars, and even the usual hustle and bustle of city life.

Once in a while, it’s great to put al of those aside and partake in the unwinding benefits of meditation.

2. You Can Concentrate Better

People nowadays are generally unfocused. We are constantly being bombarded with advertisements wherever we look, among other things. Microsoft says we have a shorter attention span than a goldfish!

By focusing on a particular object or concept, you immediately reap the benefits of meditation. It helps your mind repair your damaged concentration qualities, allowing you to perform better at work or school.

3. It’s Good for the Heart

This isn’t even one of those cheesy “benefits of meditation” for the soul. There’s actually a study that shows people who suffer from high blood pressure can shortly go off their medication as they start practicing meditation on a regular basis.

4. It Makes You Happier

I don’t know about you, but I feel that:

  • less stress;
  • coupled with better work performance;
  • and a healthier heart;

… makes for a happier life in general. Wouldn’t you agree?

On a related note: one of the benefits of meditation in the modern age is that we can use music at any time to help us out.

If people wanted to meditate with music before, they would have to do it in a public space where locals actually played it. Now can just fire up your MP3 player or phone and have music on demand.

Here’s some of the music I use – enhance the benefits of meditation with these tracks and start feeling better today! 🙂
